According to the owners manual, the 4wd! flashing indicated an overload condition. I am by no means an expert but my 2 cents would be possible connection issue, such as the bump is causing a connection to be completed and bring on the signal and after you get off the bump the connection is terminated until the next bump with enough force/size to do it again.
