At 700hp with street tires, you could probably put a stock 4L80E in there with a decent torque converter and a $90 Transgo kit and drive it on a daily basis with very good reliability at your proposed power levels. I just want to say something about drivetrain loss. A stock auto is 250 at the flywheel, they usually dyno 210-215, so lets say you lose 40hp through the drivetrain, that's 40/250 = 16% of what you started with. If that holds true in higher hp engines, a 350hp flywheel engine would put about 294 hp to the ground.

I wouldn't never push past 400 on the stock trans, and wouldn't launch it at those power levels. The stock engine can easily handle anything the stock turbo can do. A well built 4l60e can handle some serious power. We have cars running 500-600 and 700 rwhp as the power increases of course the odds of failure do increase but we have had very good results. Generally a stock rebuild is not adequate for much more than general bolt ons however.
