There's a service bulletin regarding the shift to park message where the wiring is replaced on the shifter assembly. Never had one come back after the most recent update to the repair. Source: GM dealer mechanic who has done about 100+ of them in Acadias and Malibus. The battery issue does just sound like you may need a new battery.

It operates on the same circuit as the brake lights so the first thing you want to do is to make sure the brake lights are working when this problem is present. One of your new posts indicate a 2018 Hybrid then this post says 2017. The shift to park issue manifests 2 ways. One, all trims (Hybrid/LS/LT/Premier) can get and is just a problem of the BCM receiving a park confirmation signal. The fix for that is wiggling, clicking, or replacing the shifter.
