Pull a few times and its runs but not all that great. Fill it back up to the top with gas and runs perfectly.For a 028, I would not use anything longer than an 18 inch bar.This is my own opinion.With a 20 inch you will not only have a longer bar but a lack of oil. A longer bar requires a larger supply of oil. You are pushing it with anything over 18. Remember this saw is only 2.87 cubic inch. I have always used Stihl bars.Jan 1, 2009. #2. Have a Stihl 028 that I picked up used. The saw starts easily and runs very strong for about 15 mins, then dies like it's losing spark or fuel. Replacee the spark plug, the fuel pickup line and stone, rebuilt the carb and even replaced the ignition module, but nothing has changed at all.
