19 posts · Joined 2014. #1 · Oct 28, 2020. My wife's 2018 CR-V EXL wouldn't crank after sitting for 10 min with the switch on accessory mode. She was listening to the radio, but there were probably other things on also. I called the dealer and was told that the batteries in these cars would drain after 5 to 10 min on accessory mode.
This is not a major issue. What happens is the vehicles 12 volt battery is run down and is not providing the proper voltage to start the vehicle. You need to have the battery tested or replaced or jumped by either AAA or sometimes your insurance company will come to you to do this. Come to stop, shift to Neutral, then push engine stop button, it will remain in Accessory mode. Warning will come on to put transmission in park. If you do, engine cuts immediately. For hybrids in general, it is kind of a two part answer. 1) accessory power is drawn from the 12v battery. 2) If accessory mode also engages the cut over relay for the drive pack, the drive pack and it's DC-2-DC controller will then charge or top up the 12v battery.

Its been highlighted why Honda has made the accessory feature a 2-press sequence, that you deem a "flaw". It isn't a flaw and you evidently are troubled by that and cant seem to grasp that concept.
