Sims 3 allowed me to play more from the beginning in CAS but I couldn't control when they turned. It made it hard to do a storyline where my wolf sim hid this terrible secret. When he ate sitting on the table with his mouth no one seemed disturbed by his actions. Completely ruined my game play.

The problem with The Sims 3 isn't really the open world or anything particularly, because most computers are more than fast enough to deal with it at this point. The problem is that it's still a 32-bit game, and is heavily memory limited so the issues of open world, create a style, etc. cause some issues with constant reloading.
