What I ended up doing was using devmode with godmode to set relationship to lover, max every need, try for pregnancy setting and wait every night (if nothing occurred: reduced sleep-need and skipped about 12 hours. Rinse and repeat). With godmode there's an option to advance a pregnancy stage all the way to labor, which is useful.

They can be implanted into a female colonist, slave, or prisoner in order to start a surrogate pregnancy. The chance of success depends on the surrogate's fertility. My pregnant colonist will get the birth ritual started, everyone gathers around, they all stand there for hours while she's laying there - and then nothing happens.
