It's poor strategy that reeks of "We are not confident in our product enough to go into mass production", and if you care about the future of the Deck, or a potential Deck V2, you should wish upon a star that they market it to non-steam users, otherwise it's gonna go the same way as the Steam Controller, except the Deck didn't deserve that.

Today the Steam Deck box was delivered completely empty and it wasn't even a clean cut on the tape. I caught everything on my nest doorbell camera, the driver plops it on the ground, and not 2 minutes later I'm outside picking it up and immediately noticing that it's as light as a feather and the side flap is just hanging out. UPDATE Received my steam deck. Order placed was on August 29th and received from FedEx on September 7th. Overall still a pretty quick turn around and I had to factor in the weekend and labor day, all which FedEx will not deliver on. Not to mention my impatience and excitement of getting one finally.
