Super Nova takes 3 1/2" shells, the 590 only goes to 3". The SV has long barrels, the 590 only takes shorter barrels. So if you wanted to hammer long range birds, the SV has the edge. It also has a smoother action. However, the 590 is built like a tank and has a much better safety for left hand use. Get a 500 with a rifled barrel (or a combo). If your main use-case is deer, you want that rifled barrel for sabot slugs, and the Nova slug barrels are outrageously priced from what I've seen. Benelli is a better gun all around.
