Pull the handle and look at it. Start dropping the spindex and pulling again. Repeat until you get the 1/4 inch hole in the middle of a teepee that BP describes. Move it on to the crimp closer and pull the handle. Inspect, adjust the center punch down, pull and inspect again until you have a flat crimp about 1/16 deep.

It has the old style pre crimp station with brass inserts and is very hard to adjust. Can I order the Spindex Kit for a new 600 Jr Mark 5 # 8439? If I were you, I'd consider the Dilloon Eliminator beam scale. Made by O'Haus, like all the other quality scales and sells for around $60. And as far as whether or not you made a good purchase on your MEC 600 Mk5, I'd have to say you did good. They sell new for around $145 + tax or shipping. And it is a great machine.The final crimp is closed, no swirl and depth of crimp is good. after comparing my reload to a factory AA, it does appear the folds are not as tight as the factory either. I've never experienced the malfunction you describe. Sounds like it was not properly tightened at the factory. I believe I would try Thread-Lock or some other alternative to drilling/tapping for a #2 screw. Bruce.

Then I steel wool or sand off any light rust and re-blue those parts.
