Jeep yj fuel return line.

I have a 89 jeep wrangler 258 6 cylinder with a fuel delivery problem. I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, and lines. It seems that the bypass on the fuel filter creats a vacumm and stops gas from going to the carb. If i pore gas into the card it starts and runs till that gas is used. Any thoughts or ideas would get ths 89 back on the road.The return line also should be on the top side of the filter, above the carb line to prevent gas siphoning back to the tank when it sits, making for long cold starts. 95 YJ fuel pressure regulator. I recently purchased the jeep and had to replace the fuel pump and assembly, which has now caused the jeep to run bad. I have scanned and trouble shot it and have discovered the return fuel line is capped off. The feeder line ties into the end of the fuel rail, but the return is capped off.I've got an 88 Wrangler 2.5 EFI 5 spd. There are no visible disconnected hoses or ports at the engine that I can find. The FSM doesn't provide any documentation on fuel line routing, connections, etc, and I cannot find a fuel line schematic anywhere. I've got the metal return line capped for now, but it really should be properly connected.

Hi all, I have a 95 YJ with a 2.5L. My fuel pressure on the rail with key-on-engine-off is 36 pi. When running at idle the pressure jumps to 80 psi, oscillating between 75 and 85. Double check. Just forward of the fuel tank, the line makes several sharp bends and also changes from rubber to metal line. 9 times out of 10, the leak is at this point. It's a much easier fix. you just undo the line, cut off the bad part by the end and re-attach.Heated them with a heat gun to bend them to shape and install the new Dorman quick disconnects. The pressure line has a 5/16" quick disconnect and the return is an odd 3/8" quick disconnect that steps down to a 5/16" line. The rubber lines were replaced with 5/16" fuel injection hose and fuel injection clamps.

You can replace them with bulk FI hose and good hose clamps. If you are replacing the hard lines, you can use a flaring tool to put a little bubble flare on the ends of the lines to give a good grip on the rubber hose/clamps. Same with the vapor hard line.
