There is a difference between Zombie infection and normal wound infection though. If you have no infection enabled then a bite will still cause a bad wound and may show as "Infected" but you won't actually turn into a zombie. Use debug mode (set the launch parameters to "-debug" minus the quotation marks), heal the injury by right-clicking on it, go to Cheat, then click "health full".
