Thanks for the thoughts. Does a loose gas cap generates a fault code? I can imagine that could cause the check engine and that in turn cause the eyesight to stop. The flashing x-mode light and lack of an outside temp display confuses me. The latter is just a convenience thing, right? My reader does report the computer knowing the ambient temp.

The freeze warning never stopped EyeSight from functioning with my 2021 Limited. Or anything else for that matter. If there is condensation/frost on the windshield or the lenses, that can do it.
