April 21. Terry: Spectrum is having some major cloud DVR issues right now. Several of us are having similar problems. Supposedly they are working on fixing it. They don't appear to have the capacity and equipment needed to handle the service they are offering. They are supposed to be upgrading this and fixing this over the next few weeks.

Essentially, Xfinity DVR functionality was in the app, similar to how Sling TV, YouTube TV, and the like have it. I wonder if Spectrum does this, and that have been what OP's source was talking about. Essentially replacing the cable box, as Xfinity app does, and the service having DVR functions in the app.The Xumo does have numbers on the remote along with voice commands which can be easier to use than most remotes that come with streaming devices. As for the cloud DVR you would need to subscribe specifically to cloud DVR service. Then you would go to the guide select the show/program/movie you want to record and the options for recording are there.
The spectrum app on Xumo is garbage. To not support pause and rewind and fast forward is far inferior to the set top dvr. My streaming service at my other home is DirectTV Streaming and I have cloud dvr service. That service allows me to pause rewind and fast forward while watching any live show, from any of my streaming boxes.
