I've tried a few search sites, but no luck. On one, it said that the "D" prefix indicates that it was manufactured around the time of WWI.

The "MR" serial number is not used to date the rifles The 2 letter code on the left side of the barrel just in front of the receiver indicates the date of manufacture.
