2016 honda pilot valve adjustment.

I adjusted the valves on my 2005 Pilot with 180k last weekend. As far as I know the valves had never been checked. Figured I would share what I found. I didn't pay attention to any valve noisy pre-adjustment, but the motor idles nice and quiet post-adjustment. Cyl. 1: Intake: 0.010"/0.011" - Exhaust: 0.010"/0.011".A few days ago, I took the car to a Honda Dealership for a diagnostic (Diagnostic cost $160, will be adjusted if I repair). I took the car for a pre-purchase inspection at a nearby auto repair shop. The tech there said he heard a valvetrain noise in the engine and I may need to do valve adjustment. They don't do valve adjustment. So, they could not give me any quote.

110,000 miles and I have noticed that the valves are a little noisy until the it warms up. I am assuming that it is due for adjustment. Feedback apprecitated. I would have them checked based on mileage alone. A tight (quiet) valve can do a ton more damage than a loose noisy one.

When you do VA, valve is at relaxed state, the stem is at highest position, its rocker arm can move freely without exerting any down force on the valve/spring. So actually there is no need to turn cam sprocket as long as the valve is at relaxed state and you can make adjustment. 1st adjustment at ~195k miles No valve noise on start up and noticeable improvement in power. After 2 days the valve noise started to come back then gradually increased in noise. 2nd adjustment at ~205k miles No valve noise on start up. Valve noise started to come back the same day then gradually increased in noise. 3rd adjustment at ~ 208k miles.

It's not unusual to get +/-5% but when you get to 10%, it usually means there's something fishy going on. I'm guessing that the air/fuel ratio is still off due to injectors or valves. I should have kept track of the injectors and put the front to the back and vice versa to see if the problem switched cylinder banks.
