I've taken this week off to do the engine swap in my 190 : this is due to the very common problems of cylinder head corrosion which afflict the 1.8L version of the M102 - I recently obtained a known good 2.3L M102 , complete with gearbox , from another forum member who was breaking a W124 .

The 6 cylinder 2.6 M103 they put in a 190E has similar length to a OM606 I believe. Also only the 2.6 had a removable radiator core support which I believe is necessary in order to take the straight six in and out of the car due to tight fit. The 190e was available with an m103 so it should be a drop in swap more or less. I’m sure the m104 should fit as well, I the only difference is the top end but I can take some measurements when I get home. I’ve also heard that the v8 from an e55 fits but I’m not sure what mods were done for it to fit.
